Drug abuse remains a serious ailment plaguing various communities.

Marking national Anti-Drug Awareness Week [19 – 23 June], the Department of Social Development has launched a campaign highlighting its particular impact on youth.

Statistics show a dramatic increase in drug analysis cases over the past twenty years, from barely 12 000 instance to 137 831 for 2022.

The week culminates with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June 2023.
