The body of a 16-year-old Delft teenager has been found in a shallow surf at Strand Beach.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in Gordons Bay responded to call of two missing teenagers at the beach. Despite efforts to revive the boy, he was declared deceased.

It’s understood that the two boys were friends and had gone swimming together before they both got caught in rip current. The Police Dive Unit and Western Cape Control Unit has been activated to find the remaining teenager.

Members of the public have been urged to only swim where there are lifeguards on duty, and to swim between the red and yellow flagged safe demarcated areas.
