Liz Truss will remain Britain’s Prime Minister until a new leader is elected.
She announced her resignation this afternoon after only serving as Prime Minister for six weeks.
Truss’ short term was fraught with political upheaval as she battled the country’s ailing economy.
Meanwhile the opposition leader, Keir Starmer is demanding an immediate general election.
He says that the country’s future can no longer be decided by the Conservative Party, which has repeatedly shown that it cannot lift the UK out of its economic crisis.
