Table View residents have been treated to a rare sight this week, the presence of a Cape fox.

The nocturnal animal is rarely found in urban spaces.

It’s believed that it was likely exploring the Table Bay Nature Reserve on Tuesday night and found itself in unfamiliar territory the next day.

The Cape fox has not been seen since Wednesday, which Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Eddie Andrews, says is a good sign.

He has also urged the public to report wildlife sightings in urban areas to the local nature reserve and include a picture of the animal to assist with record keeping and identification.
