The Disney and Marvel production teams have outraged human rights activists for including a so-called “Israeli superhero” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The character, known as “Sabra” made her first appearance in Marvel comic books in the early 1980s.

The producers of this multi-billion-dollar franchise have long talked about being inclusive of all cultures while celebrating diversity.

The Black Panther, and Ms Marvel characters have been hailed for showing blacks and Muslims in a positive light.

But the inclusion of the Israeli character ignores the decades of human rights violations perpetrated by the regime, which has robbed Palestinians of their land, and imprisoned them through a crippling siege in Gaza.

The character’s name, “Sabra” has also caused further anger, as it disrespects the Israeli murder of Palestinians in the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in 1982.

The 40th commemoration of this Zionist act of aggression takes place this weekend.
