There is relief as six-year-old Shanawaaz Asghar is safely at home.

The boy who was kidnapped on Wednesday was reunited with his family last night. According to the family he is both physically and mentally fine.

Six suspects had snatched the little boy in 4th Avenue while he and his two siblings and mother were on their way to school.

The Kensington Community Policing Forum has said that this kidnapping was carefully orchestrated. It was the second kidnapping in the area in a space of two months.

A Bangladeshi shopkeeper was taken with a similar modus operandi with two cars involved.

The local CPF has been engaging shop owners to find ways to prevent the hold that extortion gangs have on small businesses.

However, it notes that the modus operandi of these gangs has changed from theft to kidnapping.
