More arrests have been made in connection with the July unrest.

The eight suspects made their first appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court today.

They’ve since been released on R 3 000 bail each.

A total of 26 suspects has already appeared in court.

The group of eight also faces charges relating to conspiracy to commit public violence, and incitement to commit arson linked to the looting and public violence.

The entire cohort of 34 suspects will next appear in court next week, while more arrests are expected.
