President Cyril Ramaphosa has rejected assertions that he has interfered in the work of the State Capture commission following questions about the delay of the final chapter of the report.

Outlining the sequence of events, the president confirmed a call with the Chief Justice Raymond Zondo on Monday in which they discussed the coordination for the handover ceremony. A call that raised eye brows with some opposition parties who see this as meddling. The report is now scheduled to be released tomorrow – a week late.

According to the Presidency the delays are on the side of the commission as Zondo has yet to finalise this last part.

It’s anticipated that this part will address the pillaging of the State Security Agency under then President Jacob Zuma.

It’s expected to implicate former spy chief, Arthur Fraser. He has since made headlines for laying a criminal complaint against President Ramaphosa for failing to report a 2020 robbery of foreign currency at his Phala Phala game lodge.

The incident has added further dents to the president’s reputation.
