After two years of restrictions, the Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry will allow one million pilgrims to participate in this year’s pilgrimage.
This figure will include locals and international guests.
However, this year’s Hajj is only open to those under 65 years of age, and who have received Covid-19 vaccinations approved by the Saudi Ministry of Health.
Pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia must also submit a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours from the time of departure.
It’s unclear what South Africa’s hajj quota is for this year.
