The Health Department has begun processing comments made for the amendment of the National Health Act.
Providing an update this afternoon on the way forward, now that South Africa is no longer under lockdown, Health Minister Joe Phaahla emphasised that despite the National State of Disaster having ended, certain Covid-19 regulations such as mask wearing indoors and proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test at large events will remain in place.
The Minister says government has noted the global omicron trends, such as Shanghai re-entering lockdown due to a surge in positive cases, and that these kinds of observations are helping experts and government pave the way forward when assessing the amendments to the Health Act.
