The Judicial Service Commission(JSC) has recommended that Judge Mandisa Maya, currently president of the Supreme Court of Appeal, be appointed as South Africa’s next Chief Justice.
Last week, the commission interviewed four-judge candidates, including Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo for the position. It is now up to President Cyril Ramaphosa to decide whether or not he will act on the JSC’s recommendations or not.
