The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) has slammed President Cyril Ramaphosa for not standing in solidarity with striking Clover workers.

This, after SAFTU, hosted a council meeting, with labour federation Cosatu and other unions.

SAFTU General-Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says President Ramaphosa had strayed from his commitment towards the struggle of black workers and Palestinian victims. Union members believe that the treatment of Clover workers has declined since the company was bought over by an Israeli-led consortium, Milko in 2019.

The Clover strike action garnered international solidarity, especially from Pro-Palestinian activists.
