At least two mass killings have taken place in KwaZulu-Natal in less than 24 hours.
The first attack took place yesterday afternoon in Inanda where six men were shot and killed while sitting behind a tuck shop.
The police’s Brigadier Jay Naicker says that a vehicle with three occupants had pulled up at the tuck shop and opened fire.
The victims are aged between 17 and 26-years-old. Naicker says that they were consuming drugs when they came under attack.
He says that the incident could be drug related.
Hours later eight people were killed at a known drug house in Richmond.
Naicker says that two others were injured in the attack.
He says that neighbours heard gunshots near the house.
The youngest victim is a 15-year-old girl.
Richmond police are investigating eight counts of murder and two of attempted murder.
