A humpback whale carcass has washed ashore at Clifton 4th Beach.
The City of Cape Town says the 9m carcass will be towed during the late afternoon high tide to the Oceana Power Boat Club. It will then be loaded onto a vehicle and taken to the Vissershok landfill.
The cause of death is still unclear at this stage but the City suspects it’s likely natural.
Last month an 8m carcass washed ashore at Sea Point.
The public has been advised to stay out of the waters at Clifton as a precautionary measure in the event of sharks who may be attracted to the area in the wake of the carcass.
