The B97 minibus taxi route will remain shut for another three months as efforts to put a stop to violence has failed.
The Western Cape Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell says there have been incessant incidents of violence, damage to property and a loss of life.
The route which runs between Mbekweni in Paarl and Bellville has been closed since July.
The Paarl Alliance Taxi Association (PATA), which is linked to Codeta, and Cata Boland both claim right to run the lucrative taxi route.
Cata has welcomed the extended closure saying the arbitration process should first be finalised.
Meanwhile the Transport MEC has indicated that the Golden Arrow bus service will continue with its operation between Bellville and Paarl. Mitchell says he will also engage with the bus service to possibly reduce its fares on this route.
