Apologizing for something does not absolve the perpetrator of their crime.

This assertion was made following the outcry that met a video apology from the late FW de Klerk.

The Apartheid-era President died after a battle with cancer, taking the secrets of his role in the deaths of resistance fighters with him to the grave.

Director of the Imam Haron Foundation, Cassiem Khan says that de Klerk’s failure to admit to his role in   several murders, even at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, points to the arrogance of the enforcers of Apartheid.

Khan says that the idea that forgiveness means that there is no accountability should not be given any air.
