There’s been a call for a re-run of the municipal elections.
This as members of the Democratic Independent Party and National Freedom Party have noted alleged irregularities in Monday’s polls.
They’ve also accused the Western Cape’s Chief Electoral Officer, Michael Hendrickse of being unavailable to political parties that had noted violations of the electoral code in the lead up to the local government elections.
This is the allegation of the Democratic Independent Party’s Anwar Adams.
He, along with the National Freedom Party’s Yusuf Kanouni had disrupted the Hendrickse’s briefing at the Provincial Regional Operations Centre this afternoon.
Adams says that Hendrickse had failed to fully hold political parties to account for allegedly violating the country’s electoral laws.
