Protesting workers in Cape Town have called for more efforts to be made to ensure their safety.
They participated in the Cosatu nationwide strike showcasing their frustration with the country’s current economic status.
Members of the South African Municipal Workers Union have raised issue with the City of Cape Town. They demanded that all spheres of government negotiate in good faith and sticks to its salary agreements.
Meanwhile, Labour federation Cosatu has demanded that government reverse budget cuts. Cosatu noted that the government needs to put clear plans in place to ensure that wasteful expenditure is done away with, vacant positions in the health sector be filled, and that schools be fitted with decent sanitation and learning facilities.
