South Africa’s leaders have lost their connection with their people.
This is the criticism from anti-Apartheid activist and psychologist, Dr Saths Cooper.
He was speaking as this year marks the 44th commemoration since Steve Biko was killed by Apartheid police.
Cooper says that the struggles that have persisted during the country’s young democracy would not be as overwhelming if the new leadership had instituted policies and mindsets in line with the teachings of Steve Biko.
Cooper contends that the Black Consciousness Movement leader, had from a young age recognised the importance of education and self-worth in lifting people out of oppression.
