South African Health Regulator (Sahpra) has approved the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine on children aged 12 to 17 years-old. This, after the regulator, received updated information from manufacturers.
The green light was granted following the launch of South Africa’s Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine trial on children which started on Friday.
Sahpra CEO Boitumelo Semete says the regulator’s decisions don’t translate into a procurement decision as Sahpra’s mandate is limited to the safety, quality, and efficacy of health products in the country.
