Pepper, tomato and spinach prices have gone up by at least 20% after ice frost in the Limpopo region caused damage to these crops.
According to agricultural information group, Agrimark Trends, the volume of spinach and peppers delivered to fresh produce markets are declining.
The icy frost affected spinach crops the worst, forcing consumers to pay 27% more. This price spike of common household vegetables is not the first and has been increasing the price of the consumer basket.
