A nine-year-old girl was shot and wounded while waiting for netball practice to start in Kraaifontein on Friday. She sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and is recovering in hospital.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says the girl was just meters from her house when alleged gangsters opened fire. The bullet has not been removed yet because it hit her neck vertebrae. No arrests have yet been made.
