Despite bearing the second-most cases of Covid-19 in the country, the Western Cape Health Department appears to have the third wave under a level of control. Recent modelling indicated that the province could reach the peak of its third wave between now and August. While the Covid-19 cases are plateauing, the number of hospitalisations and active cases still remains high. Last week, the province saw a 3.2% week-on-week increase in cases – significantly lower than in previous weeks.
