The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is confident that it will have a smooth start to the start of the third term. However, it remains concerned over the province’s high number of active Covid-19 cases.

Come tomorrow, schools nationwide will resume classes at full capacity. This will see primary school learners attend classes every day, instead of rotational learning. The WCED assured parents that existing Covid-19 safety protocols will continue to be followed.

However, Education MEC Debbie Schafer has raised concern over the disruptions to the public transport sector in Cape Town. Thousands of learners rely on the taxi service to get to and from school every day. Schafer adds that the academic year has seen enough disruptions already and cannot afford anymore.
