The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy is taking steps to merge various state-owned entities in the oil and gas sector.  These will be brought under the umbrella of the South African National Petroleum Company. The department’s Deputy Director-general in Mineral Policy and Promotions, Ntokozo Ngcwabe says this allow South Africa to maximise the value of its own resource material. Out of the Strategic Fuel Fund, PetroSA and IGas, the latter is the only one doing well enough on its own.
