The number of Covid-19 cases in Gauteng – and in particular – its mostly Muslim suburbs, has caused much concern. But while the infection numbers spike, it’s the mortality rate that is most alarming.
The community organisation, Saaberie Chishty Society,has worked extensively in communities in Gauteng and discusses how the pandemic has affected areas such as Lenasia, Erasmia and Azaadville. The Western Cape Muslim Undertakers Forum also reflected on the impact in the province.
