Winter has made its presence felt in Cape Town. Heavy downpours and strong winds are lashing the Mother City as an intense cold front takes hold.

The SA Weather Service says rains of between 40 to 60 millimeters can be expected as well as rough seas.

The Western Cape Environmental Affairs Department says the cold front over the western parts of the province is set to spread all the way up the west coast to Alexander Bay.
