In 1976, the youth of South Africa raised their voice against the repressive Apartheid system with the Soweto uprising on June 16. Now declared a public holiday as Youth Day, at Radio 786 June 16 marks the day on which the youth take over the operations. Everything from the receptionist to producers, presenters, technicians, the news crew and even the Station Manager post is assumed by South Africa’s up-and-coming leaders.
