The Vitacare Pharmacy Group has resumed its annual fundraiser for Cancer awareness through a Community Walk at the Rondebosch Common. This was the first year since 2020 when the effort had to be halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Having selected the St Luke’s Combined Hospices as the beneficiary, Vitacare Pharmacies began collecting donations at its various branches at the beginning of October.
Amanda Connors, Marketing and Branding Manager for Vitacare Pharmacies says, “We had a fantastic response from the community with almost 500 people pledging R30 each or making individual donation amounts. Our goal was to deliver a significant gift to St Luke’s, who do such challenging but worthy work with patients needing palliative care for life-threatening and terminal illnesses”.
On Saturday, some 200 community members and staff gathered to walk around the Common with a police escort, in support of Cancer Awareness.
Everyone was encouraged to “Go Pink” and dress accordingly.
By the end of our Walk, an amazing total of R28000 was raised to gift to St Luke’s. Vitacare Pharmacies, expressing its support internally added to the total taking the overall contribution to R32000!
The Vitacare Pharmacy groups has branches in Kromboom, Plattekloof, Rondebosch & Rustenburg Pharmacy Rondebosch.
