The South African military has been struck by another deadly incident. Six members including a female have been killed in a veld fire that swept through a combat training centre in Lohatla, Northern Cape.

According to the South African National Defence Union (Sandu) several other members were injured. Military vehicles, tents and other equipment were damaged and destroyed.

In a space of three weeks 12 soldiers have lost their lives.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this stage. But Sandu says the SANDF will conduct a board of inquiry into the incident. the inquiry is required by law.
