Grassy Park SAPS have uncovered a new drug, locally known as “pink cocaine” which is aimed at bourgeois crowds. The discovery was made during an arrest in the area at the weekend. SAPS had responded to a tip-off, and upon arresting a 28-year-old alleged drug dealer, found 10 sachets of the new drug in his possession.
Grassy Park Station Commander Colonel Dawood Laing explains that their investigation has so far revealed that “pink cocaine” comes from Spain and is known as “Tucibi” internationally. Locally, it’s known as “Tusi” and sells for around R1000 a small sachet. Laing adds that in comparison to other drugs, “pink cocaine” is targeted at higher income drug users who already abuse cocaine.
In addition, Laing says the alleged drug dealer is not known to them as they keep close tabs on the drug dealers in the precinct. The 28-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
