The upcoming October school holidays will go ahead as planned.

Addressing the media on an update of the Basic Education Department’s learning losses for the academic year so far, Minister Angie Motshekga noted that no further adjustments would be made to the calendar. It follows the department’s proposal to do away with the October school holidays to make up for lost learning time.

Motshekga explains that after extensive consultation with the Council of Education Ministers (CEM), it was concluded that the already amended 2021 school calendar must be retained as-is.

The Council further recommended that the lost number.
